This week we started the main segment of the unit which was developing a 2d game in java script. We first had to start by practicing and playing about with phaser which we are going to use to help develop our game. We did this to help us understand how phaser works and how we can go about creating our game.
Once we had played about with Phaser we were then able to plan the type of 2d game we were going to make. I came up with a simple arcade idea similar to space invaders where the player has to shoot aliens that are heading towards them in space. The game is an endless game which only ends when an alien makes contact with the space ship. The space ship can shoot the aliens or move out of the way to avoid them.
After going through my plan I then found some assets to use on my game and I found a helpful free pack that provided me with a variety of useful assets. With the assets sourced I then began to code my game.
I did not get much coding done this week as I am still struggling to actually code but I was able to use parts of the phaser examples to load my assets and begin the code for my movement, although I have not completed it yet.
